Welcome to St. James Lutheran Church! We hope that’s what you’ll hear whether you are walking in the door the first time or the one hundred and first time. We are part of the family of God, and as such, we want to extend hospitality as we live out the great commission!
I am Pastor Paula Smith. I came to St. James in December of 2014, as a Synodically Appointed Minister. Throughout the past few years, I have spent time doing classwork and meeting with committees. Following approval, I was called by the congregation of St. James and ordained in September of 2018.
I have two grown children; a daughter who works as a Chaplain at Riverside Hospital in Columbus Ohio, and a son who is an Attorney, working for the Social Security Administration. They are God’s greatest gifts to me.
Music is a passion of mine, having received a Master’s degree in Church Music from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio where I also studied to become a Deacon in the Lutheran church. I have served as a musician/director in other churches before moving on to the call to ordained ministry.
I also enjoy cooking and baking and sharing a meal or a plate of cookies with friends and neighbors.
The Mission Statement for St. James is: We are the light of Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit to spread the Good News of God’s Salvation through worship, prayer, and loving service.
We are small in number, but gradually growing, and always very busy serving the community around us. If you are looking for a place to use your gifts in a loving, encouraging community of people, please come and see what St. James is all about! Sunday School is at 9:30 and Worship is at 10:30. All are welcome!
